Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC)—Grass Management Program 2016 – Ongoing
Since 2016, The IVM Group has been working in partnership with Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) to develop and implement an innovative vegetation management program focused on improving airside safety and operational efficiency.
The initial engagement in 2016 involved designing and trialling a targeted IVM approach to reduce mowing frequency and grass clipping biomass, while maintaining compliance with vegetation specifications. Following the success of the trial, the first phase of the IVM Program was rolled out during FY2019 and has now been successfully operating for six years.
A key component of the program was a comprehensive airside vegetation survey, which mapped the distribution and density of plant species in high-risk areas. This helped identify species acting as food sources for wildlife, enabling more strategic targeting of risk hot spots.
Through the use of selective insect and weed control strategies, alongside other technologies, the program aims to reduce wildlife activity and increase safety in three critical risk areas:
-
-
- Domestic Terminal
- International Terminal
- Legacy Runway

The IVM Group is committed to supporting BAC in achieving long-term wildlife risk reduction and safety outcomes. Ongoing monitoring and adaptive program refinement ensue that results are continuously optimised year after year.
