Christchurch International Airport – Airside Grassland Survey and Management Assessment
The IVM Group is working with Christchurch International Airport to develop and implement an Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) Program and strategies to supports long-term wildlife risk reduction and operational efficiency.
The program began with a comprehensive vegetation and site assessment, forming the foundation for a strategic IVM approach tailored to high-risk airside areas. Now in its second phase, the focus is on developing and recommending targeted management strategies based on site-specific data.
The program aims to:
-
- Reduce the presence of wildlife-attracting plant species
- Suppress insect populations that serve as food sources
- Minimise bird activity in key risk zones
Through this engagement, The IVM Group is supporting the airport in adopting a proactive and data-driven approach to airside vegetation and wildlife risk management, with a view to establishing a long-term strategic partnership.
