New innovation firm ready to tackle $4 billion weed industry

  • (July 8, GOLD COAST) A newly formed innovation, technology and consultancy firm based on the Gold Coast has launched to tackle the $4 billion weed problem that plagues Australia each year.

IVM Group was formed after the sale of multi-award wining vegetation management company Technigro in 2013 and now aims to capitialise on research and development and the intellectual property retained after the sale.

Drawing on 25 years industry experience, the IVM Group will continue to develop revolutionary technologies and advise clients on the most sustainable, safe and cost effective methods to proactively manage vegetation.
IVM Group CEO Sean Wardrop said launching the new business was a strategic step to confirm their place as an international innovator in the industry.

“The new company has been established to specifically focus on commercialising the technologies and the knowledge that have been developed and accumulated since 1987,” Mr Wardrop said.

“IVM Group will target broader national and international markets with a more specialised offering, allowing wider access to our industry changing equipment and knowledge and a chance for an industry transformation to occur.
“One of the innovations already available and successfully used by our customers is the patented DriftProof Sprayer, which is an integral part of best practice turf management.

“The technology allows for much greater efficiencies and cost savings in managing sports fields and parks as well as better operator and public safety.”

Mr Wardrop said the company expects there will be an application for their technologies in a much broader market.
“With the knowledge and understanding of how fieldwork is under taken and the contract obligations associated with vegetation management, we can focus our attention towards developing a technology suite and knowledge base to serve this market,” Mr Wardrop said.

“This means expansion opportunities across a range of industries, including the vegetation management industry itself, through sales and licensing deals of our technologies and consulting services.”

IVM Group has a number of new technologies it plans to launch in the coming months.
